Join us in October and be part of something amazing!

Dear Delegates and Prospective Participants of SzeMUN,

I am extremely pleased to invite you all to the annual session of Szeged Model United Nations. It is a real pleasure for me to serve as Secretary-General during SzeMUN 2017, which will take place in Szeged, Hungary between the 4th October and 8th October 2017.

Szeged Model United Nations has an interesting history. After four years of silence, our little team expressed true commitment to make this conference alive again and last year this dream became reality- with four committees and 60 delegates, SzeMUN has been more viable and fruitful than ever.

We meet at the time of great challenge and transition. In the 21st century our world faces an increasingly complex set of realities, from growing inequality to migration to the dangers of climate change. Conflicts arise day by day on different parts of the world, violation of human rights have become daily issues and our children are forced to work instead of going to school. Our current world order is at risk as well: there is distrust in institutions and a need for reforms appeared around the tables.

Therefore, our mission is to unite and train the next generation of leaders who will be able to mobilize and engage in the major issues of our day. Our aim is to help you develop your negotiation skills, give insight into what it takes to make consensus and encourage you to work together with other talented youngsters from all around the world. We would like to help you achieve your professional and personal goals, make friends and enjoy every moment of your stay in Szeged.

“In the end, it comes down to values, as was said so many times today. We want the world our children inherit to be defined by the values enshrined in the UN Charter: peace, justice, respect, human rights, tolerance and solidarity”- with the wise words of Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, I would like to invite you all to join us in October to negotiate on our future and to create a better world for the upcoming generations.

Yours sincerely,

Anna Nagy

Secretary-General of SzeMUN 2017
