Yesterday, the US President, Donald Trump called his country's quit from the Paris climate deal. Unfortunately, the will be no penalty leaving the agreement behind, since the deal is based on voluntary participation.

The President justified the step with the fact, that the US is not satisfied with the deal but willing to start negotiations about a better one. He also added, this kind of global climate progress "will hurt the American economy and society alike".

Many countries’ leaders and politicians have condemned America’s move and also Trump's predecessor, Barack Obama issued it as "a small handful of nations that reject the future". According to Christiana Figueres, the former UN climate chief who delivered the Paris Agreement, the withdrawal would not sabotage the efforts to fight climate change; the US will only be the loser from it.

“It is absolutely essential that the world implements the Paris agreement,” said UN Secretary- General António Guterres. “If one country decides to leave a void, I can guarantee someone else will occupy it.”

Finally, the best reaction has come from Emmanuel Marcon, the French president, who simply claimed: „There is no Plan B, since there is no Planet B. „

"The world believes in you, I know, that you are a great nation. Make our planet great again."
