About the UN Ocean Conference in 2017

The situation of the oceans is still a really sensitive issue all over the world because the society knows about the damage, but they don’t take steps to stop that. Opening the international conference on the health of the world’s oceans and seas, top United Nations officials urged coordinated global action to protect the planet, as long as it not too late.

António Guterres warned Governments that unless they overcome short-term territorial and resource interests, the state of the oceans will continue to go sour.

Secretary-General also said that the conservation and sustainable tenure of the oceans are the same situations – that’s why he tried to make settlements with foreign political leaderships and the new partnerships for the future perspectives, which will be based on the legal framework, mostly the steps of expanding oceans protected zone and decrease the plastic waste pollution.

The Ocean Conference focused on the 2030 Agenda, which contains the aims of sustainable development. This sustainable development highlights the necessity to preserve the marine to benefit present and future generations.
